Welcome. I’m truly grateful you’re here.
I grew up in the lush countryside of Jamaica, a place often called paradise, yet one where beauty coexists with hardship. The scent of rain-soaked earth, the vibrant pulse of community, and the endless, expansive skies painted moments of wonder. But resources were scarce, and opportunities even scarcer. From an early age, I knew I was destined for more than what life seemed to offer.
Two things anchored me from the very start: I was meant to live a life of purpose, and I was meant to explore the world beyond my horizon.
Education became both my escape and my launching pad. I pursued it relentlessly, earning my Associate’s degree, then a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with the dream of becoming a doctor. Life had other plans, though. When my grandmother passed away, her death cracked open my certainty, prompting me to question not just my career path, but the very life I was building.
Still, I pressed forward. I earned an MBA in International Business and spent over 15 years thriving in Corporate America, climbing ladders, mastering strategy, and achieving everything I thought I was supposed to want.
Then came the unraveling: a layoff. A divorce. Loss stripped away the façade until only one thing remained, the truth. And in that truth, I found myself.
The writer, hidden for far too long, finally had a voice. The restless traveler, yearning for freedom, finally spread her wings. The woman, shaped by struggle and resilience, finally claimed her own story.
Today, I write to inspire transformation. I create to connect deeply. I speak to empower boldly.
When I’m not here, you’ll find me lifting heavy at the gym, lost in a book, or chasing wonder in some new corner of the world.
If there’s one thing I hope you take from my story, let it be this:
You are not too broken.
You are not too late.
You are not too small.
You are a miracle.
With love and faith,
Trechell Folkes
